INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Individual Therapy means you will come to your sessions alone. We will work together for 50 minutes a session (the “Clinical Hour”).

The focus of therapy will depend on why you have decided to come to see me. You may be working towards eliminating the negative things that have taken over your life (depression, pain, trauma) and creating positive change (a happier relationship, a new career). That “therapeutic hour” will be completely focused on you.

In order to heal more effectively it is suggested that you come in once a week initially. Many people ask how long they will need to see me for therapy. That is a difficult question because it all depends on why you are coming to see me. In addition to talk therapy I will provide you with a JOURNAL in order to begin writing down your feelings and behaviors . We may explore art therapy or hypnosis if you are interested.

COUPLES THERAPY

When one person is in emotional or physical pain it can negatively impact your partner and family. You and your partner will need to learn to work together during times of stress, instead of fighting against one another.

If you or your spouse have been abused during childhood or adulthood, it can put stress on many aspects of your marriage or partnership. Therapy can help you and  your partner understand what has happened and how it it is affecting your relationship. We work on improving your communication skills, expressing your feelings in a positive way and learning how to really listen and be heard. As much as your family and partner love you, they aren’t “psychic” and you need to learn to ask for what you need and what you do NOT want or need. When I work with both of you in addition to working with you individually, you may find that stress and anger at home decreases and you can rebuild your relationship with a foundation of trust and love.

GROUP THERAPY

Occasionally, I organize small groups to address issues that many of my patients want to discuss with others. I am currently organizing therapy groups for individuals struggling with Chronic Illness (Fibromyalgia, chronic pain, etc). Please call and ask what type of group you are interested in and I will let you know when I can arrange it.
